Proverbs 3:23-24
Then you will go safely on your way, and you will not hurt your foot.
When you lie down, you will not be afraid.
As you lie there, your sleep will be sweet.
Flying was a really, really cool experience. My flight from the Atlanta Airport to Korean Incheon Airport was roughly 15 hours. It came with two complete meals and a few different times where they rolled a snack bar through the aisle. These were the two meals on the plane. One was called BiBimBap (a sort of Korean mix-it-all-together dish of meat, egg and vegetables) and the other was a fish and rice dish with bread and fruit and a sort of spongy cake.
And of course, as the coffee lover I happen to be, I am obligated to give reviews and and pictures of all of my coffee. This tasted like your basic Colombian blend with maybe a little too much coffee and not enough water. A basic cup of coffee, but a cup all the same to end each of my meals.
I also had a window seat my entire flight there. I had a perfect view out and the first 3 hours after take off were gorgeous. I admit I was scared to take a picture and open the hatch because I am afraid of heights, but I braved the fear and got a beautiful picture and a short video.
Most of the flight took place over night, so after a while we had to close the windows and they dimmed the lights for us to sleep or read, etc. I took to messing around with the screen embedded in the seat head in front of me. I could watch Korean T.V., American and foreign films and also play games. The options were Tetris, balloon pop and my favorite, Sudoku. I spent 5 hours of my 15 hour flight playing Sudoku. Let that sink in.
Once I landed it was smooth sailing for me at the airport actually, I went straight to immigration, waited maybe 20~30 minutes and then made my way into the baggage claim area where I quickly spotted my neon orange tagged purple luggage. The next step was for me to find the ticket reservation desk and receive my ticket. This was the problem. I had no WiFi, and so I was having a hard time finding anything and remembering my reservation number. Fortunately I found it, but had I been 5 seconds later, I would have missed my bus.
The older man loaded my luggage for me and I sat in my comfy bus seat and pulled out my book for the 2.5 hour bus ride to my friend's city. The ride was fine, but drivers in Korea worry me. People just merge whenever and wherever, just honk your horn for added emphasis. But once I got to Daejeon, I was greeted by my friend Chorong and together we went to her house, put away my luggage and went out for chicken! It was the best chicken I've had and I want to return to the city just so I can eat it again. I ate so quickly, I forgot to take a picture!
That weekend was full of exploration, and me getting a small tour of her city. We went to the downtown area, ate street food and got a bus card. I took a half a day to comfortably rest and shower and check in at home, When it was time to go, I was of course very sad to leave my friend's warm and comfortable home but I had to check into school the next day. I got up early, checked the bus and with Chorong's help boarded a bus that took me to my school's city, where I was greeted by a student in international affairs who took me all the way to my room! I cannot wait to see what God has in store for me and to tell you guys all about!
For we live by faith, not by sight
